I figured out a workaround to this. I just have to set the zoom level to 120% and that will center the screen. The text is a bit bigger than I'd like it to be, but I can live with that.

My only question now is: How do I configure Word so that 120% is the default setting, so that older Word documents open up in the 120% window?
