In a Word 2010 index, when there are several page numbers for an entry, the first page number often runs right up against the entry.
For example, one entry looks like this: Cash Medical40, 41, 43, 47, 48, 51, 52 In the above example, there should be some space between "Cash Medical" and "40, 41, 43, 47, 48, 51, 52." How can I get Word 2010 to always include some space between an index entry description and its first page number? |

To specify a separator between an index entry and its page number, you can add the \e switch to the INDEX field code. For example, { INDEX \e " " } adds a space. You can also make use of a tab character (but don't forget to add a tab stop for the appropriate Index style).
To show/hide field codes, press Alt+F9. Make the desired changes, and use F9 to update the INDEX field.
