Default Closing Word files

Scenario - I have several different Word files open at once but when I want to close one of them by clicking it's cross, Word wants me to close all of them - why and what is happening and can I do something to stop this.

Make sure that you click the X (Close button) for the document, not for the application.

Alternatively, you may find it useful to click Tools | Options | View and select "Windows in Taskbar." Each document will have its own window, and its own taskbar button, and you close documents one by one by clicking the X for that particular document window.

Thanks Stefan - I have now done a checkdisk and this seems to have solved the problem

OK, if you are saying that checkdisk found (serious) problems on your hard drive, you should replace it sooner rather than later. I would do that even if checkdisk was able to repair the specific errors found.

Checkdisk found nothing and hard disk was replaced only about 18 months ago.
