Default Bookmark to another document

HI,

I have a document giving an outline of what work needs to be done throughout the year. There are headings in this document which relate to other documents and particular sections of those documents.

I would like to set something up so that if I click on a heading (set up as a hyperlink I guess) this will open the other document and go to a particular section. I've looked at bookmarking the other document but can't see how to relate this back to the initial document.

Thanks,

spqr

You want a Master Doc

Try this

Now, I would suggest in Word > Help > "Master Document" for more elucidation...

First put all the documents in the same folder.

Then in the outline document, select the headings and then link to the right document.

If you need to deliver the file, make sure you must send the whole foder.

No need for a Master document here!

Open the file you want to link TO,
Set up a Bookmark at the place you want to link to
Open the file you want to link FROM
Setup your hyperlink - link to, existing file or webpage
In the menu, choose the file you have made the bookmark in
To the right of that, choose Bookmark
In the new window, choose the bookmark you made

The only thing to remember now is that if the linked files move folders, the link stops working, so you need to keep them in the same place all the time.
