Default WORDART is not working as it should/has

I have several versions of office that I have been working with. On the 2007 version when you click on word art it actually gives you templates on designs to use with out having to create any, on the 2010 version it just gives capital A's that are colored differently. There was also more options that were in the 2007 version. Was this a change on Microsoft part for the newer versions or is there something I need to enable? Thanks in advance.

I you're using Insert|Word Art, you should see a wide range of designs - 35 by default)

WordArt was redesigned for Word 2010.

If you save a document in .doc format, you can access the old WordArt interface.

I believe anything that can be done in the old interface can be done in Word 2010's interface but the process is different. It is through text effects.

You can save your document in Word 2003 (.doc) format and access the legacy WordArt dropdown. In addition, you can create your WordArt in such a document and copy and paste it into a .docx formatted document.

Alternatively, you can have access to these choices including the vertical layout through a custom AutoText gallery in Word 2010 .docx formatted documents. Here is a link to an Add-In that gives the following on the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). Legacy WordArt Add-In for 2010-2013

This Add-In is macro-free and was developed using tools written by Greg Maxey and Jay Freedman (although they are not responsible for any problems there may be with it).
