Tab key stopped working in Word

Hello:

Tab key and Shift+Tab Key stopped stopped working. Tab key will move cursor forward but Shift+Tab will not go backward.

With 'bullets' the tab key will not indent the bullet and the Shift+Tab key will not move the bullet backwards.

I have deleted all normal.dot; this did not correct the problem

I have reinstalled Word; this did not correct the problem

I have changed keyboards; this did not correct the problem

There is some file that did not get replaced when I reinstalled Word and is still holding the wrong formatting instructions for that key.

Bingo. Under [ Tools/Auto Correct Options/Auto Format as you Type ]the checkbox for 'Set Left - and first-indent with tabs as backspaces' had come unchecked. All is well now. Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.
