Hi, I'm using Word 2010 and am wondering if it is possible to have certain text in my document change depending the result of a mathematical function that is based on two numbers on the page.
I.E. If I have number A and number B I want a specific section of text to say "Positive" if A - B > 0 and I want it to change to say "Negative" if A - B < 0. I would like it to do this automatically (without any sort of input from the user, almost how excel cells update automatically). I'm familiar with VBA, especially for Excel but have never used it in Word. |

Yes. Your criteria text needs to be bookmarked. An easy way to do this is to put it in a legacy protected form field and protect your documents for forms. If you do that and mark the option in the field to "calculate on exit" you can use an IF field to do your test and display your results.
It is not as easy as in Excel, but can be done. IF fields Making Forms with Microsoft Word |
