Wink Adding different headers and footers in Microsoft word

Good day

Is it possible to have different headers and footers for a landscape and portrait page in one document, thus when you add a landscape page it needs to automatically use the landscape header and footer?

We've looked into section breaks, but then one needs to add a new header manually…

Or is there another way to set up a document to make it issue to switch between headers and footers for different pages?

When you add a landscape section to a portrait document (or vice versa), the header and footer will get different dimensions (because the page dimensions are different), if that is what you are asking.

To add "fake" headers and/or footers, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting...apesection.htm.

Look into the use of Alignment tabs for positioning header/footer elements horizontally. These position elements relative to the margins rather than according to tab settings. They work in Word 2007 and later.

Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word 2007-2013

These are relatively new and are independent of the tabs set in the paragraph format. They are only available in the Header/Footer Ribbon (although they can be used anywhere in a document).

Default Alignment tabs

Charles, thanks for the post. Never even noticed this feature, and never saw it referred to elsewhere. Nifty for the work I do -- corp proposals.

Best,
Ulodesk

You are welcome.

Suzanne Barnhill tipped me off to it this year. I had missed it completely myself. I just recently added the note to the Sections page.
