Default Sr. Citizen Question, Please: WORD Shows Blank, But Notepad Shows "Gibberish" ?

Hello,

Sr. Citizen, and I guess I'll blame my tale of woe on that.
Would sure appreciate some help, please.

Wrote a document in WORD 2007.
Under Properties it shows up as about 15K in size.

Thought I saved it, but but when I open it up again, it is totally blank.
File name I gave it is there, it does actually open, but everything is blank.

Can't imagine why.
I thought I saved it "normally," but perhaps I didn't ?

a. Any thoughts on what I might have done wrong (as usual) ?

b. And, if I open it up in Notepad, it sure looks like "something" is there.

Loads of "gibberish," or garbage.

So, something is apparently there (hopefully what I wrote) that Notepad sees, but WORD shows as just a blank page.

Any way of translating back to something readable from what Notepad sees ? Or, getting WORD to show what I wrote ?

Any thoughts and help would be much appreciated.

Much thanks,
Bob

Try making a copy of your document and changing the filename extension from .docx to .zip.

That will give you a compressed folder. Double click on it and open it. Examine the contents.

Do you currently see the extension .docx?

Click on the file name to select the name (not the file) and delete .docx and substitute .zip.
Mifile.docx --> Mifile.zip
Windows will give you a warning, OK your way out. Remember, do this with a copy.
