Default Text format different than existing one

Hi,

I would like to know if there is a way to have a different format for new text I am adding in a document created by another user with another format. I know that I can use "track changes" or change the style before each text I am adding, but I don't want to use these ways.

The problem is that new texts I am typing is automatically in the creator’s format. So if I want to add texts in different places, each time I am typing, I will have to change the format.

For instance, a colleague sent me a 10 pages document in Arial size 11 colour black. If I want to insert sentences (or comments) in Arial size 11 Bold in red, I cannot do it automatically, because everywhere I would put the cursor, font will be Arial size 11 colour black.

Have you got an idea please to force the format to keep the parameters I want?

Thank you for your help

If you just want to modify character formatting (font name, size, etc.) you can create a character style with the characteristics that you want. Apply the style to the text that you add.

On the other hand, if the text you are adding is actually commenting on the existing content in the file, you can use Insert | New Comment.
