Hi,
Using word 2007 in 2003 compatibility mode on winXP My document, which is quite large (294 pages) has a front-cover, a company address page (inside of cover page) and then the first numbered page, starting at 1. Word however shows something very odd. The page number -as shown in the bottom left corner of the word application- shows for the top page: page: 1 of 294 ( which is fine) but then, when I go to the next page, which is supposed to be my inside-cover page, it shows: page: 3 of 294. Where is page 2???? It then continues to the next page, whic is my first numbered page, showing: page: 5 of 294 . Where is page 4???? After that it continues 6, 7, 8 etc. Those missing pages show up very much when printing. It 'prints' two completely blank pages. They are visible in print-preview, but only there, not in edit mode. How to get rid of those? I don't want them! Thanks for any help |

Could you post the first few pages of the document with the data removed
Delete the sensitive stuff and on a blank page type this =rand(3,100) This should fill up a few pages if you regular document has sensitive stuff so we can see your problem as we read your description |

Are you 'Hiding' the white space?
Move the cursor to the top of the page on the screen - just above it, in fact! If you have it in the right place, you'll see an icon that: peresents the bottom part of a page, with an arrow pointing downwards; below this is the top part of a page with an arrow pointing up. Hold it still, and you will get a little popup text saying, either: Hide White Space or Show White Space If it is Show White Space, then it should already be showing the pages, if not, then choose the Show White Space option. |

Thanks for the replies
The problem was that a previous author had inserted a 'Page-Break to next Odd page' at the start of the document. After selecting the 'show hidden characters' option, it showed not only the CarriageReturns,Tabs, but also the different types of inserted page-breaks. At least in that display mode one can remove those and problem was solved. As often: a simple problem once you understand what is happening. |
