Extracting data from excel
I need to write a text document that will be used to find and replace text in AutoCAD. The code would be as follows.
reptext old name new name I need to repeat this hundreds of times using a different old and new name each time. I have an Excel spreadsheet containing all the old and new names. Is there a way I can extract the data from the spreadsheet to put into the Word document? Thanks for any help. |

Just out of curiosity, where does Word fit in if you're using a text file to drive AutoCAD search/replace? I didn't know this was possible, and it sounds like a handy technique to be aware of

Once the Word document was created I would save it as a .txt file and then change it a .scr file which is a script file used by AutoCAD.

Can't you just copy/paste from the spreadsheet into a text file? if the format is reptext [tab] oldname [tab] newname, that's ideal; if it uses newlines instead of tabs, the editor will take that in its stride.
