white space
I have converted a telerik report into a docx file and when i expand a section to add data the section below moves to a new page with a huge amount of white space between it and the next data which then moves to page 3. The document has a page footer and i have removed it fromt he report and it did not solve the issue. Thanks for your wisdom

Text may be moved to the next page if "Keep with next" paragraph formatting has been applied to text. This will be the case if you make use of the built-in headings, which has the formatting added to them by default. "Keep lines together" and "Widow/orphan control" may also be relevant here. All of the settings are found in the Paragraph dialog box (right-click paragraphs and click Paragraph on the context menu).

I will look into this but i have discovered that it has a section break on it so will research the link you provided in another post. Thanks.

OK, since text can't flow across a section break, the presence of section breaks is an important factor.
If the section break is needed (because you are changing section properties), you may be able to change the "Section start" to "Continuous."

What would be ideal is that the section break not even be there when i convert it from telerik. Any idea why it is put in there? My telerik report has no page breaks on any of the sections. If i could make it convert without this section break that would be one less step the user would need to do. The section break seems to be hidden. It does not appear when I have show/hide to show. Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with telerik, so I can't give you any specific advice on that...
Do you see the section break if you switch the document to Draft view?

Do not see it in draft view either. I have a post on the telerik forum but no response yet. Thanks for all of your expert help.

You are sure that it is a section break then? If you right-click the status bar and, on the context menu, click to select "Section," can you determine that there are in fact several sections present?

Just to be clear, all Word documents contain at least one section. Do you also see Section 2 somewhere in the file?

no all that shows up in context menu is section 1. It is hard to tell what kind of break this is because it does not say when show/hide is used

What happens if you delete it (in a COPY of your document)?

Other things that can cause this include Space Before or Space After formatting of paragraphs.
