Footer, text size .doc vs .docx problem
I have a document with a footer (pic) and got a problem when saving in .docx (word 2010)
The document were created as a template .doc, and when we try save same document as .docx, some text become bigger. The code that's used {FILENAME \p \* MERGEFORMAT} Could it be some trouble with the format or on the local computer, settings in word? Thx |

Try replacing \* MERGEFORMAT with \* CHARFORMAT in the field code. Update the field, which should then take on the formatting at the insertion point (or, to be precise, the formatting applied to the first character of the field code).

I will try that on several documents and see if that help's.
Thanks for the help. |

I still don't understand why Word inserts the \* MERGEFORMAT into most fields. I try to strip it out of every one I create. Of course, when you create the fields by typing them this isn't a problem.

I've been wondering the same thing... For what it's worth, when you insert fields via the Field dialog box, the switch will be inserted if "Preserve formatting during updates" is selected (and it is selected by default for fields that support the switch).
