Hello- I've spent ~3hrs trying to fix this and I'm throwing in the towel. Any help you could provide would be super.
Problem: .doc files will not associate with Word (winword.exe) in office 2010 - Thus, unable to double-click to open. Background: Uninstalled office 2003, and did a fresh install of 2010. Everything works fine except .doc files won't associate. They open ok if I go to file>open within word. Setup: Windows 7 and office 2010 all totally up to date on very modern machine with 8GB ram. Attempted remedies: Right-Click and fix associations (open with...). When I select WinWord, it will not appear in the choose program dialog box. Also tried repairing office, no luck. Anything else I can try that has worked for you? I looked for the virtual office thing, but its not on my machine. Thanks! |

Try getting Word to re-register itself. To do this, open the Windows Run dialog box, type winword /r and press Enter. If that doesn't resolve things, see: http://www.gmayor.com/Document_Not_Found.htm
