![]() After using Word 2003 for years and being accustomed to closing docs using the "x" in the upper rt corner of the doc window, I'm at a loss how to close a Word 2007 doc without having to use the two-step process of clicking on the Office Button, then Close. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see the usual "x" in W 2007. If no "x", is there a key stroke to close docs? |

I am having a similar problem. The "X" is there but the mouse does not work. After that the mouse does not work in Word at all except for a right click on the window bar and select close. The is a fix for Vista but not for XP.

Click on the 'Office Button' (the big round logo, top-left) to bring up the Office menu and choose 'Close'.

Thanks for the suggestion but that does not work either, because the mouse does work anywhere in a Word docuemnt other than on the title bar. Up until I click on the "X" to close verything works fine. Once I clikc on the "X" nothing happens and the mouse no longer works. It oiny occurs in Word. Once I close Word and reopen it works again until I try to close it again.

why can I close the file with the "X" on the top right corner as same as the word 2003? I also use the word 2007.

I used to be able to close documents using the "X", but something has happened on my system and it no longer works. I was hoping that someone else had experienced the same problem and may have found a solution.
