Can not Print Page Borders
Hello Everyone,
(I am using W.7. Ultimate 32 bit. m/s Office 2010) I find that I am unable to print out pages with a chosen border. (Page Layout/ Page Borders/Art ...) Also, some text pages receive the same message as those with borders - "Borders of Section 1 are outside the printable area of the page ...etc." I have tried all choices of margins under the 'page Setup' tab. Under the Page Layout tab/Page background group/Page Borders/Options, I have chosen 'Measure from' "Text." That was not successful so I changed the 24 points to 10 in all four settings (Top, Left, Right and Bottom). This was unsuccessful as well. Any advice would be gratefully received, Thanks in advance. Your description suggests your margins are too small for your printer to handle. Few printers can print withing 6mm (0.25in) of the paper edge on some sides, at least. Try increasing your page margins to at least that much all round.

Does none of your border print?
This is a function of your printer and its interaction with Word. What happens when you print to pdf? You may want to look at The bottoms of pages don't print |

Can not Print Page Borders
Hello Charles Kenyon and Macropod,
Thank you both for your answers. When I tried to print, part of a border would be missing some of one of the sides - usually the side or bottom border. I have now tried changing the margins from 0.25" up to 1" and this still shows the same warning of the borders being outside the printable area. I then saved the border designed page as a PDF and tried printing this out. It printed but came in Landscape and only on the right side of the page. I then opened it up again, went to 'Print' and 'Orientation' - chose Portrait. Then under 'Page Size & Handling' I chose 'Size' and the image showed that it was as I had wished to print it. I then printed it out and I have the required result. All very helpful, but what a "palaver" to print out a page with a border, you would not really think that it would be so complicated! Anyway, thank you both, the 'problem' is now solved - and will be added to my file of "Solving errors" !! Regards, Colinito. |

Just a quick addition, the right page border, when printed, has the right hand edge of the right hand border reduced by approximately half of the width. I shall have to be content with this, I would not expect to have 'perfection' - this has been an on-going problem for ages, but to be able to get even some of the border visible is a 'result'!!
