I'm a heavy Quick Parts user, and like to keep a backup of my normal.dotm file. In the past, I've always just done a Search on my C:\ drive to find it quickly. However, it's not displaying anywhere anymore. I believe this began with a Windows 7 upgrade, but I can't be sure.
I verified that I'd set my File Explorer settings to View> show hidden files, folders, and drives. I have no problem viewing previous backup versions on my D:\ drive and on a shared drive. When I search for "normal.dotm," dozens and dozens of files display - all types and names. When I search for it by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Templates (my best recollection of where it's housed), it isn't there. Furthermore, if I had a sudden software upgrade, I wouldn't know where to place the backup file to recover all my Quick Parts and macros! Can someone please point me to the correct location? Thanks! |
