Default Pictures not holding their place

Hi! I create the programs for our high school's drama productions. These involve text of bios of all the actors and adults, and photos of each person. For the past several programs, I've run into the same problem:

- These are in either 2 columns or 3 columns (the one I'm working on now is 3 column), only in the bio section. The page following the last page of the bio section is always a 1-column page.

- I format the pictures this way: Text Wrapping - square, left only (so the picture is immediately left of the person's name, with the text indented around the picture. Picture position: Horiz alignment, alignment left to column. Vert, absolute position, 0.02 below paragraph. The pictures are .75" with a thin border.

For the first couple of pages of bios (usually 3-5 pages of bios), the pictures hold their place just fine, even when I add or subtract text, or push into the next column. But always only on the last page of bios, the pictures will move into the paragraph above where they belong, or sit on the bottom of page when the correlated text moves into the next column, etc. And when I click on the photo formatting, the picture position formatting has changed.

How do I fix this? Should I be formatting the pictures differently? This is making me nuts. Thanks for your help!

Hi erincon23,

You should only ever convert pictures to anything other that in-line (and only if necessary) once all the text editing is finsihed; otherwise, when the paragraphs to which images are anchored lower down in the document move (even to different pages/columns), they are liable to push the pictures to unexpected locations. This is an unavoidable consequence of the text-reflowing that Word does.
