Default Trouble with a TOC (in a document of many!)

Hi,

I am having a problem with one TOC in a large Word document that I'm working on.

I have around a dozen TOCs dotted around my document using bookmarks to display the appropriate content lists. Most of the TOCs are at the front of the document which looks like its one single TOC, though in reality there are several (and more to come).

For some reason, I'm having a problem with one TOC (it only containts one single heading style so it's very small (like others that I have that do work).

Anyway, I have created a bookmark called Swarf_Spares which is wrapped around one page of text. I then go to Quick Parts > then select TOC under Field names > and then click Field Codes.

In the Field codes box I enter TOC \H \B "Swarf_Spares" and I then get the following message:

"To add or remove items in the table of contents, select text in your document, and do one of the following:
*Apply a heading style from the Styles gallery on the Home tab.
*Change the outline level of the text, using the Add Text menu in the Table of Contents group of the References tab."

Pressing OK the adds "No table of contents entries found".

I've deleted the bookmark and then added it again; I've changed the heading style etc all without success.

I have ignored the problem and carried on and added other TOCs, all with success, so it's just this one particular TOC that I cannot do!

I'm using Word 2010 on a PC.

Verify that a built-in heading style has actually been applied to at least one paragaph contained within the bookmark. If some other style must be used, add the \t "style name, level, style name, level" switch to the field code. Update the TOC.

Thanks Stefan.

I seem to have sorted it. Looking carefully I saw that the bookmarked text was not completely enclosed by the bookmark e.g. I had a section called "1 Overview" and the first bookmark bracket was between the "1" and "Overview".
