Default Mail Merge a Protected Form Maintaining Form Fills

Hello, please assist to my problem if possible.

I have a form that is a protected document at work (I have the password) that is all pull down menus and form fills. I would like to execute a merge to populate all the form fills, but keep them form fills and the document protected. The word form is protected before and after merge, because as a corporate document we should technically not be allowed to make any modifications.

I have no vba experience, but I cannot figure out how to run a macro from within a protected form anyways, so I'm looking for a work around or a good long term solution.

Since you're using Word 2007, you should consider using content controls instead of formfields; that way you wouldn't have any of the protection and formfield incompatabilities with mailmerge. If, when you say "a corporate document we should technically not be allowed to make any modifications", you also don't want to allow changes to the content control inputs/selections after the merge has taken place, simply save the output document in the .doc format to convert the content controls to plain text.
