Opening older doc. files
I have a serious problem with Word in Office for Mac 2011. All my older Word files with the .doc extension from Word X for Mac, 2001 version, won't open properly. When I open any file the files always open as a blank page with no text at all, just some straight lines. I have been using Text Edit software to work around this problem but formatting is lost.
Is there a way to fix this problem or do new softwares not open older Microsoft files? Any advice would be much appreciated. P. |

Word 2011 is designed to be backwards-compatible with .doc files and should be able to open them. If it can't, either the files are corrupt or this is a fault in your Word installation. If the files don't open OK on other PCs/Macs, the problem is the former, otherwise it's the latter.
