as above - there are links on the TOC leading to each section, but if I want to jump back and forth between the sections and the TOC, is there a keyboard shortcut for it? (i know there's ctrl+F, but it's a little cumbersome having to search for 'table' just to jump back).

Depend on your mental model of "shortcut", but 2010 supports/allows ctrl+H, alt+G, alt+O so you can use section navigation; might work with a bookmark to your ToC header, too. Enjoy ;-}

ctrl+H is find and replace, which is similar to ctrl+F

alt+G and alt+O didn't do anything for me though.

i want just 1 key combi that takes me back to the TOC..
