I'll watch this thread with interest. What I often do elsewhere is set a character style that includes a language setting – but when I checked this in Word before posting, it didn't work :-{ There is no "none" option in the Language dialog, and selecting the "Do not check language or grammar" option seems to have no effect beyond changing (temporarily) the appearance of the checkbox.
