Default How to globally change the formatting of a bullet style to another style?

Hi there,

I'm hoping to get some assistance in changing a certain bullet formatting style in a Word doc to be globally changed to being formatted the same as another bullet style. You can see in the below image, that the document has two "star" bullet formatting styles. Style A is the correct formatting, but somebody decided to use Style B randomly throughout the document as well:

Now, a more recent version of the document is available, but in order to fix a page numbering issue, a side effect has happened to the bullets in Style B:

Now the Style B bullets have all been turned into numbered bullets, which is terrible. These numbered bullets appear all throughout the document now sporadically, and so I'd like to know if there's a way that I can globally modify all bullets in Style B to be formatted the same as Style A.

Basically:

Throughout the entire document, For each Bullet that is using Formatting B, change the formatting of the Bullet to Formatting A.

What is the best way to accomplish this? I'm using Word 2007, but have access to Word 2010 if needed.

Place the insertion point in the style that has the desired formatting. In the Styles pane (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S), right-click the style that you want to update. On the context menu, click Update <style name> to Match Selection.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think that's what I'm looking for. This problem of the numbered "B" style bullets happens sporadically throughout a 200 page document, and all these occurences are not changed by your suggestion. What you described changes the formatting of Style B in my Style Bar to now match Style A, but all occurences of Style B bullet formatting in the document (which were present prior to your suggestion) are not changed at all in their formatting. They are still numbered bullets.

Since changing the style doesn't help, that suggests number or bullet formatting has been applied as direct formatting to text. Reapplying the correct style, for example via Find and Replace, would be a better solution.

Gah. So there's no global fix?

Ok, thanks.
