Default editing a ToC

So … a colleague has sent me a .docx and a request to "mend" various things he's managed to break <g> I've managed most of what was needed, but can't find out how to see/edit the definition he's used for the ToC. Do I have to delete the ToC and start again, or is there some way of exposing the set-up details he's already used? The options "Remove" and "Update" don't really cut it here.

Thanks in advance.
