word looks for printer when opening rtf files
Whenever I try to open an rtf file either from an outlook email attachment or from my desktop, word will open, and then at the bottom left of the page a message comes up connecting to printer. It will do that for 30 seconds to a minute and then the document will come up in word. I could open the files in wordpad but need them in word. Any ideas on how to avoid the wait? Thanks, Greg |

I would save the file(s) as a regular Word doc, then see how fast they load
If things are fast, then I would re-save as an RTF file If this solved the problem, then I would go to Print > Properties for a look-see, so the next time I had an RTF with slow opening, I could spot the problem in Properties You might also look at this |

Sounds like your 'Open With' settings may have changed!
Right-click on the file, choose 'Open With' find Word in the list of programs (or Browse to where you installed your version of Office - default [C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office 12/WINWORD.exe]), tick the box that says 'Always use this program...', say OK Does that change anything? |
