Default can't delete paragraph mark at end of document

I've got a table as the last object on the last page of a document, but there
is a paragraph mark on the last page that I can't cut or delete, so there is

a blank page at the end of my document. How can I get rid of this blank page?

Try going to "Print Preview" and click on the "Shrink Document" icon. This
should shrink your document to one page for you.

You can't delete the final paragraph mark, but you can format it as eg 1 point size.

Hi kb-

The last row of your table is simply too close to the bottom margin of the page.

In addition to Graham's suggestion, here are a couple more ideas:

1) Reduce your top or bottom margin a little if you can, or
2) Reduce your row height, or
3) Remove "needless" white space on the page (ie., empty ¶'s), or
4) Go to Table Properties and apply Text Wrapping->Around and reposition the table if necessary.

Good Luck |:>)

I format the last paragraph mark as hidden text. This works most of the time.

Default Solution (tested even)

Okay, I went through a DOZEN pages by so-called experts who suggested relatively obvious things like, "try deleting the paragrah mark." None of the suggested solutions work, until I stumbled into this little gem:

How to hide blank page after a table:
1) highlight paragraph mark after table (If you cannot see paragraph marks, press CTRL-*)
2) then Format | Font | Hidden

The blank page is still there, but ha! you can't see it!

You cannot delete the last paragraph symbol of a document. If it's falling off the last page, you can try several tricks:

Set the paragraph spacing before/after to 0
reduce the table row height
use shrink to fit
find a "space" on the page that can be squeezed and do something with paragraph before/after spacing, line spacing, font size, etc.
Adjust margins?

Good luck.

FYI, all of your paragraph formatting is "stored" in those paragraph symbols. Hence their purpose.

I must thank you personally as this has always been my problem and I just figured it out! It was my table too close to the edge. When I moved my table away from the edge the next blank page disappeared.

Lightbulb Cannot Delete Paragraph

I discovered this by accident, but in my documents with tables and the paragraph mark that cannot be deleted, I found a hidden section break in the table.

I don't know how it got there -- maybe a cut and paste issue from another document.
  1. In the table that precedes the paragraph mark, create another empty row (I just hit Tab).
  2. Select the entire row and ONLY that row of the table.
  3. Go to Table Tools>Layout>Convert to Text.
  4. Convert that row to text and voila - you should see that hidden section break appear.
  5. Delete the section break and the paragraph mark as well.
CAUTION: Deleting that section break might impact your headers and footers, if you have them in the your document. Be prepared to fix those.
