I cannot shift the beginning of a line so that the first word appears further along the line. For example, I could shift the beginning of the first sentence of this message so that the 'I cannot' appeared further to the right. But I can't do this on the word document that I am working on.

How are you trying to do it? tab? spaces? paragraph indent?

How are you trying to shift the text? Is this at the start of a paragraph, or somewhere in the body of the paragraph?
