Using Personalised Word Fields
Hi,
I need to create a centralised template of a letter that multiple users access, edit and send out. I wanted to have as much of the information in the letter to autocomplete as possible and I have used the Insert-Quickparts-field-Username function to update the sender at the end of the page. I'd like the header at the top of the template to include the users e-mail address. All our e-mail address end in the same way @blahblahblah so that can stay consistent but the beginning of the e-mail is in the format forename.surname. Is there any way I can have the template automatically insert that (without putting a . in the username details in the options menu)? I had hoped to use the UserInitails field as that is updateable from the options menu but unfortunately that is limited to 9 letters. I noticed a UserAddress field in the fields list. Where is this stored? Is that field updateable? I hope I am making sense. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Richard |

I suspect that about the best you could do is for each user to have a text file containing their personalisation details in a standard format, with a macro in the document template to read that file whenever a new document is created from it, and populate either various built-in document properties, a set of custom document properties, and/or specific ranges (eg denoted by bookmarks) in the document.
