Opening Word without photos/graphics?
A client just sent me a large doc to edit (309 pages, 36 mb), with a LOT of photos and graphics. And, unfortunately, it really drags on my computer. It's slow to load; slow response time in navigating and making changes; the computer freezes up occasionally.
I was wondering: Is it possible to open up a Word document --and edit the text-- without opening up the photos and graphics? If so, what's the process? I have Word 2007 installed on a Windows Vista system. Thank you in advance. |

Hi
Unfortunately if the documents contain pictures and graphics then there is no way of disabling them prior to opening. Tony |

Go to Word Options|Advanced>Show Document Content. There:
• uncheck the 'show background colors and images' option • check the 'show picture placeholders' option. Working in draft view, with background repagination disabled, will also improve performance (but at the expense of being able to see the page layout).

Now that's well worth knowing; thanks, Paul.
