Embedded Links failing in word document

Hi All
We post a word document on a website which actually resides on a nas drive.This Word document has several embedded links on it which point to excel files on a nas drive.

Whenever we make small modifications to the word document all the embedded links fail and we have to manually remap them to the excel files residing on the nas drive.

Is there something we are doing wrong

Please help
