Hi Group!
I am looking for assistance with the design of my document footer. On each page of the document I have different headings (i.e. 2.1.1 XXXX, 2.1.2 YYYYY) I want to add text to the footer based on which headings are on the current page. Any ideas? Thanks, Michael |

Hi
Not sure what you VBA Macro skills are like but I would have thought you could write an If....Then....Else routine to check what the header is and then populate the footer based on the header. Hope this helps. Tony |

Hi Tony,
Yes, I am comfortable with macros and figured I could go that route, although I was hoping for a quicker answer. I researched ms support and found that I could include fields such as heading number and text (as independent fields) to the footer, and then have separate footers for each section of the document, but not a way to IF..ELSE as you suggest. I guess I will try creating a macro. If you know an article that talks about searching a single page in the document for the headings listed on that specific page, and how to return the type of heading it is (i.e. "Heading 1", "Heading 2") I would appreciate that. Thanx |

Hi
I have had a quick search but cannot find anything suitable. Suggest you post under Word VBA and maybe Paul Edstein (VBA and Word guru) will respond). Good luck. Tony |
