Default Listed items covered in a block of grey.

I have typed a question with five multiple choice answers in word. The answers are numbered a, b, c, d and e. These answers are set one below the other. If I put the cursor immediately to the left of the letter a, the letters a, b, c, d and e immediately are covered in a block of grey. I do not want this. How do I get rid of this?

Hi
Basicially Word is treating the a, b, c etc as fields. This is why they appear grey when you click just to the left of them.
Try re-typing adding a space before each one, this should stop Word treating them as feild names.
Good luck.
Tony
