I cannot insert a symbol from the symbol table. Using "Insert", then "Symbol" from the drop-down menu, then 'more symbols', thenASCII(decimal), I finally get to the table of symbols I want. The first line of symbols or characters starts with a blank which is a blue square (like it has been selected). My 'clicks' to select a symbol do nothing. No symbal can be selected by any method I can think of using. I've tried changing the font, all the 'buttons' for other functions seem to work ok, but no symbol can be selected so as to be inserted in my doc. What do I need to do?

Nevermind! I solved my own problem. Trying to select with mouse, must use keyboard arrow keys.

Using the mouse, double-clicking on a symbol, or selecting it and clicking 'Insert', is usually sufficient to insert it into a document. If your copy of Word isn't working that way, there may be a problem with its installation.
