Removing space from in between words
Got one more question for you guys. So I've set the spacing to "0" and removed the "Space After Paragraph", but still I'd like the words a little closer to one another than they currently are.
For instance, they were like this before the above adjustment: Dog Cat Bird And now they look like this: Dog Cat Bird Is there any way to take it even further and get them to practically touch one another? Possibly, if I chose to do so, even have them overlay a bit? |

Right-click on the text; on the menu select "Paragraph"; in the Spacing section "Before" and "After" set to 0.
To my knowledge you cannot set them any closer. |

Hi
Yes you can alter the default space between lines. Follow these steps: 1. Right click on the each line. 2. Select "Format" followed by "paragraph". 3. Under "Line Spacing" select "Exactly". 4. Start by select 9pt and see how that looks. You can then experiment above and below that to get what you are looking for. Good luck. Tony |

I stand corrected. It works for me (although, I don't know what I would use it for).

JimP, thanks for the help. They were set to 0.
OTPM, thanks for your help, as well. It works, yes, but even before they touch "skin", part of the word starts to disappear. You may have noticed this, but it basically "cuts" the top and bottoms off of each word - the lower the number you choose, the more the word gets cut. I guess it would be nice if there was some kind of lever that would literally layer them. That way, I'd be able to get them as absolutely close to one another as possible, without having the words overlay. |

Hi
There will be a point where characters will overlap and this cannot be avoided. You also need to select a small enough font size to avoid this. May I ask why you need this functionality? Other than for printing Terms and Conditions on the reverse of a Contract as small as possible for example I cannot understand why you would want this functionality! |

The words aren't overlapping, though, the top's are simply being cut off. Like this:
Here's what the words looks with Before and After set to 0: At the end of the day (though very impractical and time consuming), all I want is was what I can achieve through Photoshop: As for why I need this option, it's for a mailbox. Not much room for names, and, of course, many names that need to be listed, so I'd like to save as much space as possible. Last edited by Videolife; 01-28-2013 at 10:38 PM. |

Have you tried experimenting with the Line spacing parameter?

Yes, I have. The second picture above is set to 1.0 and has "Space After Paragraph" removed. Still not exactly what I'd like to achieve, as you can see.

Unless you put the words into transparent (ie 'no fill') textboxes, so you can overlay them, you won't be able to get the letters to touch. That's because of the 'white space' that's built into the actual fonts. Even then, unless you want some letters to overlap, only a few will actually touch.

Your suggestion worked - thanks for the tip. Still time consuming, and it seems that I can't copy and paste several text boxes at a time (maybe I'm not doing something right), but it'll get me by for now. So thanks again.

Wow, yea', a lot of work. Thankfully this only needs to be done once.
Well, I appreciate the help. Thank you. And thanks to everyone else for their help, as well. |
