Macro for check box in word

I have a document that has a multiple choice section and I want the user to be able to just check the box when he/she click on it. As it is right now you click on the box and the check box form field options windows opens. Do I need to write a macro for this, and if so how?

It sounds like you have not protected your form after inserting the CheckBox.
Make sure you have protected the form and then the Checkbox should work fine.

Yes protecting the document enables the check box funtion however, with it protected the rest of the form is not accessible. It's essentially a fill in the blank document with the check boxes being the vessel orientation choices.

In that case the only thing you can do is put the Checkbox in a Section on its own and only protect that Section.
