Default paste -- different format

When I copy and paste in MS Word 2002, the pasted text is in a different format then the format in the rest of the document. I have to always click on the stupid little clipboard icon and choose "match destination formatting" to change it. Can someone tell me if I can set this somewhere in word to (some menu/dialog box, etc) so don't always have to click that little icon?

Try File > Options; on the Advanced pane, there are some Cut, copy, paste settings that might help – or might trip you up later <g>

Alternatively, stop using Ctrl + V for pasting. Press Alt + E; let go, then press S: this brings up the Paste Special dialog where you can select a paste format. Once you feel confident, Alt + E, S, U whizzes you through pasting as unformatted unicode text.

Disclaimer – tried adding this by editing the post, but couldn't find how to post the edited version …
I've been frustrated by several programs where the Mac version doesn't support the familiar Alt+ keyboard shortcuts: hope Word isn't one of them.

… but if you're using a mouse, then (at least under Windows) right-click gives you three paste format options.

there is no option choice in the file menu -- would it be somewhere else -- in Tolls there as no advanced option.

I'm afraid I don't know where 2007 for Mac might be hiding these options – never worked with that version/platform combination. Perhaps you could ask the same question in a Mac forum as well? if no-one here can help you.

But I'm not using Mac -- I'm running windows -- even thought it's running on my macbook pro -- it's still windows, whether it's with parallels or my boot camp partition; it's windows, and it's Word 2002 not 2007.
