Offline help doesn't work offline!
If I open an offline help page from any Office 2003 program (searching help works) when I have no internet connection, I get a help window open with no content at all.
If I open the same with an internet connection, I get the text of the help but unformatted and missing any images etc. The VBA Editor help is even worse - again with no conenction I get a blank window, but with a connection it again comes up without formatting, but also with an IE script error on each page similar to the following: Line: 17 Char: 1 Error: Not implemented Code: 0 URL: mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20Offic e\OFFICE11\1033\vbawd10.chm::/links/woproItalicBi_L.htm While the URL obviously changes depending on the app and the topic, it is always the same error. Have tried repairing the installation and completely reinstalling to no avail. Is on a relatively clean XP Pro SP2 box. Office 2003 has SP1. TIA. |

RE: Offline help doesn't work offline!
Solved.
Was all HTML help that was broken, not just in Office. Fix: in safe mode, delete %systemroot%\system32\hhctrl.ocx Replace from CD/network install regsvr32 hhctrl.ocx Reboot. |

I was having similar problems. Whenever I would load a page, I'd get a message saying "An error has occurred in a script on this page." After I read this thread, I searched for hhctrl.ocx on Microsoft's support forum and found a post that recommended using MJ's Help Diagnostics (http://helpware.net/downloads/index.htm#MJs) to re-register the file. That did the trick with a little less trouble for me.
