Docx files not opening with Office 2013
I have installed the preview of Office 2013 and since doing so the doc and docx files on my computer are opening with WordPad instead.
I have checked the file associations and they are correctly pointing to Microsoft Word so I don't understand why it's not working properly. Help! Running Office 2013 Preview and Windows 7 64-bit. |

Exit Word if it is running and then try reregistering file associations as follows: Hold the Windows logo key as you press R; in the Run dialog box, type winword /r and press Enter (note the space before the slash). After the configuration has completed, see if Word correctly opens Word files when you double-click their icons. If there is still a problem, try http://www.gmayor.com/document_not_found.htm (even if you don't see the exact error messages discussed in the article).

Sadly, it didn't work.
Re-registering did not work. Even tried the website that you suggested. Wondering if it has something to do with it being the preview version of Office 2013 but that seems unlikely.

Usually, manually editing registry entries should work. I can't explain why it doesn't in this case. :-(
