Default how NOT to start word 2013 with 'choosing templates'?

i just installed office 2013, and found that word 2013 starts differently, in a bad way. it prompts me to choose a template first, rather than the classic straight-into-blank-document view as in word 2010.

how can i revert to the classic view?

I don't have 2013, but the graphic appears to be a 3rd party application or ad loaded in your machine, not MS Word.

it is not a 3rd party app - check the screenshot above for the first screen upon launching word 2013.
