Default "Find" menu item gone

HELP HELP HELP - PLEASE.... I went into customize menu items to add "Go To..." to the menu - this Word 2011 on a Mac 10.7.5. It added it fine, but the "Find..." menu time no longer works or brings up any window. Also - a massive disaster, the "Advanced Find and Replace" has totally gone. I am in the middle of a massive document and this is causing terrible problems. Note that my normal template is customized - I simply cannot revert to the default.

Any help is very urgently solicted.

Thanks - Lawrence

I gave up! I dumped normal.dotm and had Word make me a new one, problem solved. Only of course my customization gone. Slowed me down a fair bit but no choice.

You should be able to display the Find and Replace dialog box by using a keyboard shortcut. In Word for Windows, use Ctrl+H. I don't know what could be the equivalence in Word for Macintosh, though.

Thanks - ironically I have a recollection of experiencing this same thing before! But I was in a grand rush and so really could not spare the time to investigate, dumping the normal. dotm and getting a new one fixed things up and I lost my shortcuts - but I could carry on working. Time Machine should have a backup and I'll go grab that once I can breath!

Cheers - Lawrence

Were you able to find a Macintosh equivalent to Ctrl+H then?

Yes - Shift-Cmd-H

All very annoying - especially when you use both platforms (Windows & Macs)...
