Default Can I delete “Word” from my Office 2007 & reinstall it?

The reason I’m asking is that when I open a link in an online site, for some reason , it very often opens it in Word (or attempts to). This is frustrating because once that process starts; you have to wait for it to complete the task, before closing it, and trying again to open the online page.

This sounds like a file association issue. What kind of links are affected by the problem?

When this happens it is usually when clicking on a link - occasionally from a website but also when in an email. If I copy the link and “send” that, it still opens it in Word.
It seems to have started when I updated Windows Essentials a few weeks ago - although I only use “Live Mail”.
