In photoshop you can take a handwritten font and apply a quick pattern overlay to give the font some subtle texture.
Is there a way to do this in word? I would like to use word; however, it only lets you select solid black for your text. Here is an example of what I am talking about, notice the range in values, the font is not entirely solid black.

In Word 2010, for documents not set to 'compatability mode', you have a number of text effect options. You may be able to achieve a suitable effect, though i'm not sure there's one that matches you specifications.
