insert picture file location
Hi.
Word 2010 32 bit on Windows 7 64 bit. In word, when i insert picture, navigate to the folder i want and insert the picture i want, that works fine. The problem is that when i then insert another picture the file location resets to the default location (pictures library) and i have to navigate through all the folders again to the folder i was just at. This also happens if i right click on the newly inserted picture and select "change picture". This problem has only just occurred and never used to happen. I am not sure if it is related to updates from MS or other software issues. Everything else works fine. Is there a setting that has changed? Any thoughts |

For as long as you keep Word running and the document open, you should be directed to the most recently used folder when inserting the picture.

That's how is used to work.
But now it redirects me back to the default location each time I try to insert a picture. |

Does anyone have any further info on this problem?

When testing this again, I seem to be getting inconsistent results. :-( Sometimes it works as it used to in earlier versions of Word, and sometimes I get the result you described.

If I open an existing document that already has pictures in it and right click on one and select change picture, Word recognizes the previously used folder and consistently navigates to that folder.
But again if I insert a new picture using the Insert > Picture button it reverts to the default directory. I am wondering if a recent update to Office has something to do with this issue as I have been using this version of Word with no problems for some months. |

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Programs & Features > Microsoft Office > Change in the Windows Control Panel)?

I have repaired the installation as you described, but this has made no difference.

OK, I see that my installation of Word does not specify a "Clipart pictures" folder. I guess that explains why we saw different behavior.
Thank you for the update!
