Default parallel text on even pages and on odd pages

Hi,

I'm writing a book in two languages. I want to have running text in one language on all of the even pages and the translation of that text on all of the odd pages.

Is there a way to set up my document so that as I am writing on an even page, for example, when I get to the end of that page it will jump to the next even page instead of the immediately following page (while leaving the text on the odd pages alone)?

I could do all of the page breaks manually, but then if I have to change some of the text (or text size, etc.) later, I'd have to manually carry forward changes to each page throughout the book.

I'm using Word 2010.

Thanks,
Mark

If the document is sufficiently short, you can do this with linked text boxes (there is a limit to the number of linked text boxes in a document). Generally, though, you have to use page layout software, such as Publisher, which lets you control specific pages in a document.

In Word, the best option is to use a two-column table (and forget about having the translated text on the odd pages). You can clear the table borders of course, if you don't want them. Make sure to add a column regularly, or the table will be slow.

Thanks! The text boxes are a great solution.

I'm glad it worked for your document.
