Missing standard and formatting toolbars
Using Word 2008 for Mac with update 12.2.8 on two computers in the house.
With one, any new blank document appears with the standard and formatting tool bars in view. With the other, they are never in view, even though View > Toolbars shows both are checked. They have to be unchecked and rechecked to get the toolbars to appear. I suspect it has to be something really simple, but I've searched through preferences unsuccessfully to find something to explain the difference in behavior. Can anyone point me to the solution? Thanks, Tosh |

Found the answer. I'd been using keyword searches that kept directing me to problems with missing items in the individual menus, which can be caused by customizing the toolbars and fixed by resetting them to their defaults.
Then I finally stumbled across a reference to missing the entire toolbars, which can be fixed with one click in the little oval button in the upper right corner of the document window. I can't imagine why anyone would want to hide them completely when working on a document, but there you have it. |
