Moving focus to format style box from keyboard
I recently had a disc crash and lost my normal.dot, for some reason I cannot understand Word will not accept the backup copy I have so I have had to remake it. I have a customized toolbar in which I keep a bunch of common icons most of which I can click on or access via a keyboard shortcut, one of these is the Format Style box. Most of my styles have a name and a shortcut (e.g. Heading 1,h1, Body Text,bt) and I hit the keyboard shortcut to move the focus to the select style box and I type the shortcut - but I cannot figure out what on earth the command is to move the focus to the select style box. Ctrl-Shft-S used to do this I thought but no more. I am using Word 2011 for the Mac. Does anyone know the answer? Thanks - Lawrence |

Hi Lawrence,
Did you make sure Word was not running when you tried to restore your Normal template backup?

Hi Lawrence,
That suggests your backup template is corrupt. Try renaming it from dotm to docm, then opening it as an ordinary document in another folder. If that works, re-save it as a template, close Word and restore it to the correct location.

Good grief, I did not know you could do that! Thanks, great information.
