Hi semiotically,

I see you've been posting the same question elsewhere. For cross-posting etiquette, please read: http://www.excelguru.ca/content.php?184

Please provide links to all the forums in which you've posted (and do likewise for them) so that, if an answer is forthcoming, people in other forums don't waste their time researching a topic that has already been answered elsewhere.

There is no problem with that. What is expected is a modicum of common courtesy.

Word 2010, at least, uses ODT 1.1. Word 2013 is unlikely to differ, but you can check the version # in the ODT file itself. Simply convert the file extension to .zip, open the Zip archive and expand the settings.xml archive. At the end of that file's 'office:document-settings' block you'll find a reference to the ODT version, formatted like:
office:version="1.1"

it's using 1.2 - so it was worth installing 2013... thanks for showing this I will check 2010 if any service packs come along in Windows Updates...
