Hi,

This has happened to me a few times.

I search for something that is IN the doc. & it doesn't find it even though I'm staring at it.

What's up with that?

This time it's in a table other times it's not.

Thanks

Michelle

Hi, Michelle. The problem can be that the stlye attached to what you're searching for has an attribute that makes Word overlook it. This can be frustrating, however, as you have found. Start by checking the Language settings of the relevant paragraph style to make sure that detecting spelling errors is on. I think this is Tools/Language in 2003; I haven't used it in a long time; it might be under Edit.

Best,
Ulodesk

Hi Michelle,

There are numerous possible explanations, including:
1. If you've previously done done a 'Find' with any formatting specified, the specified formats are tained until you tell Word otherwise, by clicking on the 'No Formatting' button.
2. If your Find expression includes a paragraph break but the text to Find is in a table cell and terminates with the end-of-cell marker.
3. If the text in the document spans some hidden text but the Find expression looking for it doesn't include the hidden text.

Well thank gawd I didn't have to go thru all of that. I had to exit out of word & my numerous docs & restart it & that fixed it.

I hope it doesn't happen again.

Thanks guys

Happy Halloween.

Michelle
